To embark on a motorcycle route, it’s necessary to spend a good amount of time on pre-trip planning. One of the most exciting steps is choosing the destination and each of the towns and attractions you wish to visit.

To help you start planning your route through northern Spain, here are 3 places you shouldn’t miss if you want to plan the best motorcycle routes through Asturias.

Mejores rutas en moto por Asturias

1. Picos de Europa

It’s no coincidence that this historical autonomous community is the most mountainous in Spain (and also one of the most mountainous in Europe). The Picos de Europa are so extensive that they stretch across León and Cantabria, divided into 3 massifs.

In Asturias, you can start on the N-632 road, although more experienced bikers might prefer the old road that runs through the main valleys. While it’s one of the best motorcycle routes in Asturias, it’s not recommended for those prone to motion sickness.

2. Cantabrian Coast

One of the best routes through Asturias on a motorcycle is undoubtedly along the coastal area. Starting from the border with the Cantabria Autonomous Community, the route begins in the town of Colombres and ends at Cabo Peñas, totaling about 200 kilometers. Along this route, you pass through Llanes, Cangas de Onís, Arriondas, Gijón, Candás, and Luanco before reaching your destination.

In each of these towns, you’ll encounter beautiful beaches, natural reserves, the Mirador del Fito, and charming coastal cities.

3. Natural Park of the Fuentes del Narcea

It’s worth planning a route that takes you through the roads surrounding this natural park. Shared between Cangas del Narcea, Degaña, and Ibias, each of these towns has much to offer passing bikers, from excellent gastronomy to the greenest views Asturias has to offer, along with its typical mountains.

There are several highways you can take to enjoy this park. A good starting point for your journey is Cangas del Narcea, where the AS-15 road offers a route that saturates your vision with high mountain crops from this locality.
